Giuseppe Cecere is an Associate Professor of Arabic Studies at the University of Bologna. In 2013-2014, he was Visiting Professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem Israel. As a Fellow Researcher in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the IFAO (Institut Français d’Archéologie Orientale) in Cairo, he was co-director of the international program “Les mystiques juives, chrétiennes et musulmanes dans le Proche Orient medieval” (2008-2011) and he is currently co-directing “Monothéismes. Religions en contact dans l’Égypte médiévale” (2012-2016). His researches focus on Sufi “presence” in the multicultural and multi-religious context of the Egyptian society, mainly in Mamluk times.
