La tradizione cinquecentesca del Dit de Guillaume d’Engleterre: il Romant du duc Guillaume Il contributo porta alla luce due testimoni a stampa del Dit de Guillaume d’Engleterre, una versione trecentesca della vicenda raccontata dallo pseudo-Chrétien nel Guillaume d’Angleterre, romanzo risalente alla fine del XII secolo. Ad una descrizione delle due stampe, reperite presso la Biblioteca Nazionale di Parigi, segue una disamina critica in merito al recupero di antichi testi, in particolare in forma di dit, durante il Cinquecento francese. Nell’appendice si dà conto della posizione dei nuovi testimoni all’interno della tradizione testuale del Dit, nell’intento di fornire spunti utili alla revisione del testo critico stabilito da Silvia Buzzetti Gallarati e di proporre un’ipotesi di stemma codicum che tenga conto di tutti i testimoni noti dell’opera.

This article brings to light two printed editions of the Dit de Guillaume d’Engleterre, a fourteenth-century version of the story told by pseudo-Chrétien in Guillaume d’Angleterre, a romance dating back to the end of twelfth century. After a description of the two printed editions, found in the Biblioteque Nationale in Paris, there follows a close critical examination of the recovery of ancient texts, especially in the form of dit, during the 16th century in France. In the appendix there is an explanation of the position of this new testimony within the textual tradition of the Dit, for the purpose of offering useful information for the revision of the critical text by Silvia Buzzetti Gallarati and of putting forward the hypothesis of a stemma codicum that takes into account all the known examples of the work.
