ROBERTO ANTONELLI è professore emerito di Filologia romanza dell’Università “Sapienza” di Roma, Vicepresidente (Presidente per la Classe di scienze morali) dell’Accademia dei Lincei, Socio straniero dell’Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres dell’Institut de France, Direttore della rivista « Studj romanzi », ed è stato Presidente della Société de Linguistique romane (2016-2019). Ha studiato le origini e lo sviluppo delle letterature romanze fino al XIV secolo, con particolare riguardo alla metrica, alla lirica della Scuola poetica siciliana, anticoitaliana e provenzale e al romanzo anglonormanno. Ha pubblicato la prima edizione critica con commento (1979 e 2008) del primo grande poeta italiano, Giacomo da Lentini. Ha studiato il rapporto tra intellettuali e tradizione dal Medio Evo a oggi e lo sviluppo dell’idea di “Europa” dall’Antichità all’età contemporanea, promuovendo e coordinando ricerche e pubblicazioni sul canone letterario europeo e sul lessico europeo dell’affettività e delle emozioni; ha progettato e curato la mostra “I libri che hanno fatto l’Europa” (Accademia Nazionale di Lincei, 2016). Ha proposto una diversa prospettiva teorica e pragmatica per le edizioni critiche (la cosiddetta « Filologia del Lettore »), promuovendo, dal 1992, la cosiddetta “Filologia materiale”. Ha pubblicato, fra libri e saggi, più di 200 lavori, comprese, in collaborazione con Maria Serena Sapegno, due storie della letteratura italiana (L’europa degli scrittori, 2008, in 7 voll. e Il senso e le forme, 2011, in 5 voll.).

ROBERTO ANTONELLI Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Humanities at the University Roma La Sapienza, he has studied the origins and development of Romance literature from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age, with particular regard to metrics, ancient Italian and Provencal poetry and the Anglo-Norman romance. He has analysed the relationship between tradition and innovation and the role of intellectuals in medieval and modern society. He has published about two hundred works, including the first full commentary on Giacomo da Lentini (2008) and, with Maria Serena Sapegno, a new history and anthology of Italian literature (L’Europa degli scrittori). He has also studied the development of the idea of “Europe” from Antiquity to the contemporary age, promoting and coordinating research and publications on the European literary canon and the European lexicon of affectivity and emotions; he curated the exhibitions “I libri che hanno fatto l’Europa” (2016) and “Leonardo a Roma. Influences and heredity” (2019). He founded the review « Critica del Testo » and is director of « Studj romanzi ». He was Department Director, Dean and President of the University. He is Vice President of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei and President of the Class of Moral, Historical and Philological Sciences, foreign member of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles Lettres of the Institut de France and was President (2016-2019) of the Société de Linguistique Romane.
