István Feld is associate professor at the Department of Hungarian Medieval and Early Modern Archaeology at the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest. His principal research focus is medieval and post medieval Hungarian castles, mansions and manor houses. He is the head of several building archaeological research projects and founder of the Castrum Bene Conference series, that is for the international middle European research of castles (1989). His publications include 16. századi kastélyok Északkelet-Magyarországon / Die Schlösser des 16. Jahrhunderts in Nordost-Ungarn (2000), Late Renaissance and Early Baroque Architecture in Hungary (2002, 2016).
