Pál Lővei is art historian at the Institute of Art History, Research Centre for the Humanities, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, member of the Centre’s “Lendületˮ Medieval Hungarian Economic History Research Group. Between 1979-2013 active in the National Office for the Protection of Historic Monuments. His research fields are history of architecture, protection of historic monuments, medieval tomb sculpture, medieval heraldry and sphragistics, history of world exhibitions. Editor of several volumes of Lapidarium Hungaricum program for cataloguing stone fragments of perished – mostly medieval – buildings. He is president ofthe Scientific Committee of Art History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
