Jim Glassman

Jim Glassman is Professor in the Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on state power, social struggle, and violence in the process of urban-industrial transformation. He has conducted research in Thailand, South Korea, and China, and is the author of Thailand at the Margins: Internationalization of the State and the Transformation of Labor (2004), Bounding the Mekong: The Asian Development Bank, China, and Thailand (2010), and Drums of War, Drums of Development: The Formation of a Pacific Ruling Class and Industrial Transformation in East and Southeast Asia (Brill Press and Haymarket Books, Historical Materialism series, forthcoming).
