Guillaume Bureaux

A young researcher at the University of Rouen Normandy and former member of the German Historical Institute in Paris, Bureaux submitted his doctoral thesis in November 2018 on the subject of pas d’armes and their political and social roles in the 15th and 17th centuries. Influenced especially by the theories of play promulgated by Callois and Huizinga, he spent three years as a member of a research team at the German Historical Institute, working on mediaeval games and competitions. His research work now ranges from the history of nobility to the history of games, with special reference to literature, politics and the history of costume.
