Maria Luisa Ardizzone

Maria Luisa Ardizzone è professore di letteratura italiana nel dipartimento di Italian Studies della New York University. Ardizzone ha studiato paleografia medievale, letteratura e storia all’Università di Palermo, e letteratura del ’900 alla Sorbona di Parigi. Si occupa di Medioevo e Novecento ricercando e riconsiderando i rapporti tra poesia, filosofia e scienza. Il suo lavoro di medievista rilegge testi volgari del XIII e XIV secolo a specchio delle tradizioni culturali latine e greco-arabe che vi penetrano, rintracciando significati o perduti o non adeguatamente valutati. Come novecentista ricerca e riconsidera aspetti ritenuti marginali o minori della poesia o della cultura del secolo. Tra le sue pubblicazioni: Reading as the Angels Read. Mar ia Luisa Ardizzone is Professor of Italian literature in the Department of Italian Studies of New York University. Professor Ardizzone studied medieval paleography, literature and history at the University of Palermo and twentieth-century literature at the Sorbonne in Paris. Her principal areas of interest are the Middle Ages, poetry, intellectual history, medieval philosophy, science, twentieth- century poetry. Her work as a medievalist rereads vernacular texts of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries in the light of Latin and Greco-Arabic cultural traditions, unpacking meanings that have been lost or insufficiently evaluated. As a scholar of the twentieth century, she considers aspects of poetry and culture that have been considered marginal or minor. Among her publications are: Reading as the Angels Read.
