Roland Krischel since 1996 has been Head of the Department of Medieval Painting at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud, Cologne. He has organised numerous exhibitions, including shows on Tintoretto, the iconography of Christ, the history of collections, the history of comic strips and contemporary photography in dialogue with the Old Masters. Roland published widely on diverse aspects of late medieval panel painting in Cologne, mannerism in Antwerp, Venetian Renaissance painting and twentieth-century art (in particular Max Ernst, Andy Warhol, Bill Viola).
