Francesca Declich

Francesca Declich, Associate Professor at the University of Urbino Carlo Bo, has been Fulbright scholar at Northwestern University and Stanford University as well as research scholar at ISIM in Leiden and at the Refuge Studies Centre in Oxford. She has carried out long-term ethnographic fieldwork and archival research in Somalia, Tanzania and Mozambique. Her latest edited book published for Brill is Translocal Connections across the Indian Ocean: Swahili-speaking networks on the move. She recently co-edited with historian Marie Rodet a thematic issue on memories and migration for Africa: Journal of the International African Institute (2018) and a special issue on research films on slavery for the Journal of Global Slavery (2020).
