Masaya Takiguchi

Masaya Takiguchi has worked as a curator in central Tokyo, and is currently a specially appointed associate professor of Museology at Tokyo’s Rikkyo University. His research focuses on the cultural history of Edo-Tokyo, studying cultural phenomena unique to the city and how urban temples and shrines influenced and functioned in the economy, society and culture. He received his PhD in 2007 at the Rissho University (Tokyo) with a doctoral dissertation that focused on the cultural and social functions of Edo-period Tomifuda, which had not received much attention in the past because they only aroused the leisure interest of private collectors.
