Nicolò Zennaro

Born in 1994, Nicolò Zennaro is now a PhD student in Mediaeval History at the University of Antwerp. In 2020 he obtained his Master’s Degree in History at the University of Ca’ Foscari, Venice with a thesis focused on a 15th-century Italian mercenary company. His main fields of interest are the economic and social history of the Republic of Venice and the politics and military institutions of Late Mediaeval Italy. Since September 2020, he joined the European Research Council (erc)-funded project Back to the Future. He will investigate the relationship between capitalism, future thinking, and future actions in the mercantile society of Late Mediaeval Venice before, during and after the epidemic crisis of the year 1400.
