Elena Brizio is currently an Affiliate Professor at Georgetown University – Villa Le Balze in Fiesole, Italy, where she teaches Medieval and Early Modern History. She has published on the political, legal and institutional history of Siena in the Trecento. Her current research focuses on the cultural, economic and social power of Sienese women in the Renaissance. Her most recent publication is “‘Sebben che siamo donne…’: Sienese Women in the Troubled Years at the End of the Republic (ca. 1500-1560)”, in A Companion to Late Medieval and Early Modern Siena (Leiden-Boston: Brill, 2021).
