Fabio Massimo Bertolo, Marco Cursi, Carlo Pulsoni

The essay announces the identification of an unknown copy of the first edition of the Prose della volgar lingua (Venezia, Tacuino, 1525) which bears numerous autograph annotations by Bembo in its margins. His notes enable us to reconstruct the editorial history of the text and the changes made by its author in the second and third editions (Venezia, Marcolini, 1539 and Firenze, Torrentino, 1549), as well as detailing Bembo’s reasoning on some linguistic issues and revealing references to various sources, hitherto unidentified.

The article deals with the transmission of Jaufre Rudel in manuscript Sg and suggests that Jaufre’s production may have known two phases, the latter constituted by the three chansons about the Amor de lonh. They may therefore refer to a longing for the homeland to which Jaufre, crusader malgré lui dedicated his poetry.

This note is a rebuttal of Cesar Domíguez polemical stand against the proposal advanced by Paolo Cherchi who saw in an episode of Julius Ceasar’s De bello gallico a source of an episode of Juan Manuel’s Conde Lucanor (I, 3). The author defends his original proposal indicating traces of the presence of Cesar’s work in Medieval Spain, and he takes this occasion to discuss the notion of “source” and how it should be used.

The essay proposes a new critical edition with commentary and metrical analysis of Als entendens de chantar (BdT 27,2) by Arnaut Catalan: the interpretation of the descant is supported by comparisons with oitanic and occitanic texts, as well as by the theorical speculation of the musical treatises, which may contribute to demonstrate the paternity of some compositions whose authorship remains doubtful.

Alle origini del manoscritto iacoponico Angelica 2216
Francesca Grauso

Alle origini del manoscritto iacoponico Angelica 2216
The handwriting of the friar Francesco Pezzini, active in Assisi during the first decades of the 14th century, can be identified in a small group of manuscripts, almost all preserved in Assisi (a copy of the Bible (ms 16), a missal (ms 319) and the Collationes by Cassianus (ms 100). The same handwriting, however, appears in the ms 2216 of the Biblioteca Angelica in Rome, which contains one of the most important anthologies of the Laudes by Iacopone da Todi. The identification of Pezzini’s handwriting enables us to make further considerations: it confirms that the Angelica manuscript belongs to the oldest set of Iacopone’s manuscripts and it demonstrates that this copy was realized in the Assisi area (the Sacred Convent or the Porziuncola). Finally, in the ms Assisi 100 there are some, such as the Dicta by Egidio and Assai m’esforço de guadagnare by Iacopone, that allow us to argue that Pezzini worked in an spiritual environment such as the Porziuncola.

Volgarizzare e trasporre. Una postilla al lessico della traduzione
Luca Morlino

Volgarizzare e trasporre. Una postilla al lessico della traduzione
This note supplements Gianfranco Folena’s fundamental contribution on the terminology of translation with some Italian examples (both medieval and modern) of the verb trasporre when used with reference to the semantic area of translation.

Starting from an overview of the most recent studies about the so-called “Dante’s library”, the article offers new insight on the topic. The author analyses the methodology for reconstructing the list of books read by Dante and the places visited by him in search of books or peace to pursue his studies. The question of Dante’s education in his youth – whether it took place in Florence or Bologna – which is currently being debated is also discussed. The author tries to consider Dante’s entire intellectual life and, as a consequence, her research touches also other cities and libraries which Dante may have visited.

Recenti contributi sull’opera di Camões
Simone Celani

Recenti contributi sull’opera di Camões This review presents three recent books devoted to the work of Camões. The first, entitled Cinco Ensaios circum-camonianos and edited by Rita Marnoto, contains five essays, some hitherto unpublished, written by Maria Luisa Meneghetti, Cesare Segre and Giuseppe Tavani and dedicated to topics tangentially related to the work of the Portuguese poet, its sources and its literary context of reference. The other two volumes, also edited by Marnoto and dedicated to Camões’s sonnets, inaugurate the project of Comentários a Camões, aimed at the publication of a series of comments devoted to individual texts belonging to the lyric work of Camões.
