Carducci and the rediscovery of Petrarch’s original manuscript
The article reconstructs the controversies following the rediscovery in 1886 of the original manuscript of Petrarch’s Canzoniere (ms. Vatican Latin 3195), in the Vatican Library. Among the protagonists of the story there are scholars of various nationalities: Pakscher, de Nolhac, Salvo Cozzo. Among them Carducci, both as scholar and as a proto-editor of Petrarch in 1876.
