«Sunt duo, nec duo sunt»: l’uguaglianza d’amore nella narrativa francese del XII secolo
Partendo dall’analisi dei problemi testuali e di traduzione relativi a due passi del poemetto antico francese Piramus et Tisbé, l’articolo esamina i testi in cui la somiglianza traduce sul piano dell’evidenza esteriore il legame affettivo tra amanti o amici, indagando le corrispondenze tra queste rappresentazioni, da un lato, e la trattatistica sull’amicizia e l’esegesi biblica, dall’altro. Da ultimo si osserva come in alcuni casi il motivo della somiglianza tra amanti riceva un trattamento volta a volta diverso nelle redazioni successive di un testo.

In this article, starting with an analysis of textual and translation problems related to two passages from the ancient French poem Piramus et Tisbé, we examine texts in which the affective bond that unites friends and lovers is shown at an exterior level by the similarity between them. We investigate the correspondence between these representations, on the one hand, and treatises on friendship as well as biblical exegesis, on the other. Finally we show how the motif of similarity between lovers is often given different treatment in successive editions of the same text.
