Il canone tra classicità e classicismo
L’articolo intende mostrare la nascita della moderna idea di canone
letterario e le relazioni tra quest’idea e gli antichi elenchi degli scrittori
migliori. L’accento principale è su David Ruhnken, che nel 1768
(Historia critica oratorum Graecorum) introdusse il termine “canone”
per indicare gli antichi elenchi dei migliori autori greci, e sui problemi
che sorgono dall’idea di un canone fisso, come è quello biblico.
The paper aims at showing the birth of the modern idea of literary
canon and the relations between this idea and the ancient lists of the
best authors. The main focus is on David Ruhnken, who in 1768
(Historia critica oratorum Graecorum) introduced the word “canon”
to mean the ancient lists of the best Greek authors, and on the problems
arising from the idea of a fixed canon, as the biblical canon is.
